The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des Rêves, and it is only open at night.
But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway—a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will. Despite themselves, however, Celia and Marco tumble headfirst into love—a deep, magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands.

True love or not, the game must play out, and the fates of everyone involved, from the cast of extraordinary circus performers to the patrons, hang in the balance, suspended as precariously as the daring acrobats overhead.
Written in rich, seductive prose, this spell-casting novel is a feast for the senses and the heart.

Hello everyone! It’s my first time posting a book review in a long time.

Book Review

How do you even describe or write a review for a book like The Night Circus? I now understand why so many people are obsessed with it. It is a book that draws you in and makes you never want to leave. It’s a book that will send chills up your spine, but will also warm your heart. It is a book where every single word was chosen carefully, to make you, the reader, feel the magic and pure essence of the book. If I had to classify it, I would say it’s historical mystical realism. Does that even exist?

Imagine growing up, knowing that you will be forced to play a game against an unknown opponent, but you don’t know when, who, where, why, or how. That’s what the two main protagonists are facing. The Night Circus is mysterious because it centers around a game where the rules are fuzzy. There is so much that is unknown, and every time you think you have figured out the mystery, there is a new twist or turn. There is bittersweet romance, unrequited love, and hidden love. When reading this book, you might think you are inside of a dream, because it’s hard to distinguish what is myth and what is reality.

Does that sound intriguing to you? If it does, then I highly recommend you read The Night Circus. I could write volumes about this book, but I think that going into it relatively blind makes the story even more fascinating. I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it. I give it 5/5 stars.
