I haven’t done a TGIF post in a while, so I decided that it was time for a new one. If you don’t know, TGIF posts are where I blabber about random things happening in my life. They can also be personal reflection posts.
As most of you know by now, I have loved reading from a very young age. With that being said, I would often read a book, enjoy it, put it down, and then start another book. I rarely ever took a moment to stop, think about the characters, and analyze the story. Sure, I was able to read a TON of books, (300-400 per year) but I really wasn’t reading them. Thinking back, it seems as though I was just skimming the surface.
Now that I’m a beta reader and book blogger, whenever I read, I try to connect with the characters, dive deep into the story, and read more than what is on the surface. I have found that while reading was pleasurable before, reading is ten- no, one hundred times better now! I don’t even know how to properly describe the feeling that I get whenever I am able to connect with characters in the books. All that I can say is that it is exhilarating, and I wouldn’t trade that feeling for anything.
While reading was a hobby before, it seems to be my life now. And by reading taking over my life, I really mean books and authors and bloggers and everyone else in the book community! I know that I haven’t met most of you in person, but I feel as though I’ve known you all forever.
So what I really want to do is say thank you. Thank you to everyone reading this. Thank you to everyone who has been warm and welcoming as I entered this amazing community. I am extremely grateful to all of you.
Now, one thing that I do want, is to get to know all of you better! Please leave a comment below telling me about your experience with the book community. I would love to hear about everyone else’s experiences with reading.
Speaking of reading, I’m actually hosting a 2015 reading challenge where you can win PRIZES for participating! I would LOVE for you all to join. Check it out HERE.
Goodbye for now!
