HELLO HELLO EVERYONE!

I happened to make it to the end of the #novel19s chat yesterday on Twitter, and there were SO MANY AMAZING books mentioned. I don’t want to keep all the goodies to myself, so I wanted to share with you some of the books that I specifically learned about during the chat yesterday!
Make sure you’re ready to log onto Goodreads, because you’re going to want to add ALL of the books to your TBR! (and yes, I know I have multiple tweets from some authors– it just goes to show how excited I am!

Geeky girls (and boys) who feel wildly out of place but know deep down that all the things that make them geeky and out of place are the very best parts of them.
Also, anyone who wishes they were Pippi Longstocking#novel19s https://t.co/ZuT9akdUK7

Four best friends: Jenna is a loyal overachiever, Rosie is an aggressively shy dreamer, Ket is a rebel with a heart of gold, and Elin…is kind of a mystery. (Is it cheating to say that? Ehh, still going with it.) #Novel19s https://t.co/zVXLl854a3

*waves* Hi I’m Joan!! My debut is DESCENDANT OF THE CRANE, a YA fantasy a la Chinese #gameofthrones (release date coming, but sometime in spring!) It follows a princess who must find out who killed her father while navigating a court full of deceivers. #Novel19s https://t.co/M5KomdGHzo

A4: when it comes to angst levels, Hesina is essentially Elsa from FROZEN, except she never lets it go. She’s also incredibly stressed and sleep deprived because she is trying to find an assassin but…you will have to read to find out 😙 #Novel19s https://t.co/2KRVOx8cr8
— Joan He (@joanhewrites) June 20, 2018
A2: DESCENDANT OF THE CRANE features a princess who uses her brains as well as (some) brawn, so if you liked the girls in SERAPHINA, BITTERBLUE, THE WINNER’S CURSE or ASH PRINCESS, you might like Hesina 😉 also, for chinese drama watchers, NIRVANA IN FIRE #Novel19s https://t.co/m6gnSW894K

A5. My first response to this question was I WROTE THIS BOOK FOR ME, DAMNIT. But I hope my readers will be fans of old school, throwback fantasy (a la Tamora Pierce), and will appreciate a heroine whose toughness is in her heart, not her muscles #Novel19s https://t.co/zWR51FNYu8

Q2. An Ember in the Ashes meets Three Dark Crowns, though I was also hugely influenced by Tamora Pierce (OG fantasy queen) and Mulan (best Disney princess fight me).#Novel19s https://t.co/kRMmFLILfN

So many awesome new books! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
I’ve read DESCENDANTS, STORM CROW and GRAVEMAIDENS and I can tell you they’re all fantastic. I also recommend Hanna Alkaf’s THE WEIGHT OF OUR SKY. An amazing YA Historical about a girl looking for her mother during thr Kuala Lumpur riots in 1969.
