The Keep are the latest reality TV sensation - and now biggest boy band on Planet Pop.

Amelie absolutely hates them.

But a brief backstage encounter with the Keep's lead singer, Maxx, makes her question her assumptions.

Maxx, it turns out, is tired of celebrity life and manufactured pop songs. He's recording his first solo EP, but struggling with the sound. Meanwhile, Amelie is a natural songwriter with the perfect voice, but no confidence to perform on stage.

They have a lot to offer each other, but are their worlds just too far apart?
This Beats Perfect is about finding your voice in a world dominated by social media, adult opinions and manufactured art.

Playlist

My book is about music, manufactured pop, becoming an artist and finding your voice. Amelie is such an inspiration to me, and unsurprisingly her taste in music reflects my own. It’s a mix of my own teenage years spent going to gigs and collecting records, plus music introduced to me while galavanting around the globe on a soundtrack, making Rockfeedback for MTV.

Each track is a chapter heading and each song has been carefully selected to reflect the emotions and plot of that chapter. And some tracks I just love and had to include. If you are eagle eyed enough, you might be able to get an idea of the plot of the book, and for that reason I’ve removed the final track!
Happy listening!
