BEA 2016 Recap Part Five (aka Bookcon)!

Posted August 26, 2016 by Nori in Event Recaps! / 3 Comments

Today is the day. Today you get to hear about Bookcon, aka the final day of BEA. Are you ready???

You may or may not remember that I got under three hours between Day 3 and Bookcon. So, there’s your reminder. 😉 I woke up at 6:20, completely groggy. Mishma and I then went downstairs to figure out the suitcase situation, and I was happy to finally have that question answered. It turned out that we would be able to store our suitcases downstairs, and they would hold onto them for us for as long as we needed. Mishma and I then went to scope out the line for Bookcon, and immediately realized that THEY. WERE. INSANE. We decided that since the line was ridiculous already, we might as well get our suitcases checked and get Starbucks before joining the monstrous line.

Of course, the line at Starbucks was absolutely insane also, but hey- I NEEDED my caffeine. I was very close to sleepwalking- and I had a busy day ahead of me. After Starbucks, Mishma and I started walking…and walking…and walking…and eventually found the end of the line. While in line, we met up with Sarah @ The Book Traveler and her daughter! I have wanted to meet Sarah FOREVER, so I was thrilled to finally get the chance!

I’m going to skip forward to actually getting into the event, because nothing much happened while we waited.

I immediately ran to Owlcrate, because they were giving away awesome prizes to the first 1,000 people who came to their booth. I met up with the amazing Anna (@ReadByAnna) while in line, which was great because I hadn’t seen her in a couple of months. We then walked over to the Epic Reads Lounge, because they were giving away tickets to their party in the afternoon.

After that, Mishma, Anna, and I meandered and ran into a couple of people, but didn’t really do anything. We then split up because we all had different things on our schedules! I got Annabelle Jay to sign her book and got an adorable button from Julia Ember. I also got really lucky because I was the last person in line for a copy of Julie Cross’s sequel to Halfway Perfect! I really enjoyed Halfway Perfect (review HERE) so I was thrilled to get an ARC of book 2 and meet her.

I didn’t have anything else on my schedule until later, so I grabbed lunch with Anna and Mishma in the convention center. I then chilled on the floor with them plus Holly, Shannon, and CJ.

The next two things that happened were definitely the highlights of Bookcon.

In case you don’t know, Since You’ve Been Gone is one of my all time favorite books and so I was completely freaking out because I was able to meet her and get a picture with her!!! Plus, the icing on the cake was, when I introduced myself…SHE KNEW WHO I WAS!!!! AHHHHHHH I turned into a complete fangirl and am proud to admit it.

After that…

Oh my gosh, this was absolutely incredible. Epic Reads brought in 6 authors and split us all up into random tables, then had the authors rotate through the tables and talk to all of us! Plus, they gave us a copy of their books so we could get them signed! I sneakily took pictures of all of the authors- so don’t mind the weird angles 😉
Once those two events were over, I basically just meandered and talked to random people for the rest of the day.

Oh right! There was one other highlight that I almost forgot to mention!

Disney hosted a giveaway of a HUGE box of Tsum Tsums and…GUESS WHO WAS A WINNER????

That’s right, yours truly! 😉

I sincerely hope that you’ve enjoyed reading all of these recaps, but unfortunately, all good things must come to an end…and this is the last post. So, what did you think? Did you enjoy reading the recaps (even if they were a bit late?)

Let me know in the comments below!
