novel newcomers

And…I’m back with another Novel Newcomer post! Yay! In case you’ve forgotten what NN is, you can check out all of the details HERE.

Outside of blogging and reading, what other interests do you have? I am primarily a creative writer of novels, often similar to the favorites that I read–in that, my life revolves around stories. I’m also a university student, which I consider an interest because I find my first major (communication) absolutely fascinating, and I think about it on a regular basis even while not in school.
Ricky: My number one activity in life is writing. It’s the only thing I’m good enough at to make a career out of, so I’m working to get my first novel, Red Rain, a literary agent. I also write tons of fanfic, most of which features Gwen Stacy and Spider-Man – the Amazing versions as played by Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield. (Garfield and I are secretly the same person – shh, you didn’t hear it from me!) 😉

What is your most unusual accomplishment?
Blaise:To show off the academic nerd a little bit, I passed 10 out of the 11 AP (advanced placement) exams that I took, and received college credit for all of them. The only one I did not pass was chemistry, because chemistry is hard. I passed biology, US history, world history, human geography, English literature, English language, psychology, statistics, US government, and macroeconomics.
Ricky: Most unusual accomplishment, you say? I could tell you, but the details aren’t for the faint of heart…so I’ll settle for the close second of when I was named “Most Likely To Be Your Boss” in high school. Leadership isn’t high in my skill set.

What is your favorite food?
Blaise:I struggle with the term favorite–I can usually eat a variety of noodles/pasta almost every day, though. Does that count?
Ricky: My favorite foods (gotta have more than one!) are Burgermeister burgers, tortellini alfredo, my nonna’s espresso, and raspberry Coke. (Not all at once, of course.) Oh, and or dessert, peanut butter Oreos.

What’s one fall/winter 2016 release that you’re super excited to read?
Blaise:So I went looking and I guess I’m looking in the wrong places because I’m not finding any. I don’t pay too much attention to new releases unless they’re by authors I really adore–so the clsoest thing that I do know of is This Savage Song by V.E. Schwab (whose Vicious I absolutely adore).
Ricky: Three words: Carve. The. Mark. I’m an unabashed Veronica Roth fan – have been since Divergent – and I’m just chomping at the bit for this baby!

What’s been your favorite post to write during 2016?
Blaise: I had a lot of fun writing my post on how to plotted the novel I’m currently working on. I especially appreciated all the discussion it generated!

Ricky: Again, I can’t just decide on one! So I’m gonna share two: my silly (and swear-word-heavy) review for Deadpool and my (pretty personal, but it had to be written) post on freedom of love.

Fire or Ice?
Ricky: Ice powers for myself, and given the chance, I’d date a fire girl. There’s a reason why I wrote the female lead of Red Rain with fire powers.

Strawberry kiwi or strawberry banana?
Blaise:… can I just do strawberry?
Ricky: Strawberry kiwi. Bananas disgust me.

Gold or silver?
Ricky: I wear ’em both, but the gold more often.

Circles or squares or triangles?
Ricky: Triangles (I say while replaying one of my favorite underrated 30 Seconds To Mars songs, “Northern Lights.”)

M&Ms or Skittles?
Ricky: M&Ms because chocolate. And peanuts. And peanut butter. Always the peanut butter. Always.
