And…I’m back with another Novel Newcomer post! Yay! In case you’ve forgotten what NN is, you can check out all of the details HERE.
Meet the Bloggers:
Linda is the blogger at Book Mania Life. She started blogging in December 2015. She also has two other sites: www.publishingbones.com (professional advice for authors) and www.bookmaniaonline.com (services for authors and publishers). You can find her on Goodreads, Instagram, and Twitter.
Outside of blogging and reading, what other interests do you have?
Hi! I have lots of interests – maybe way too many. I love all things associated with books, including writing. I write in three genres: fiction, creative nonfiction and poetry. I also love languages, lettering/calligraphy, book arts, paper crafts – basically all the parts of a book on their own. And I have a serious interest in photography and miniatures. Also, I’m a new vegetarian.
Anything that has to do with music: listening to music, going to concerts, creating playlists, etc. I love playing with my dog, coloring, cross stitch, cooking and baking, and ASL. I’m on the board of directors for my local co-op so I’m pretty involved in the healthy/organic food community in my area too.
I love photography, and I’m completely addicted to Netflix (Gilmore Girls is my current obsession!). I also swim and run, and have a strange fascination with penguins.
What is your most unusual accomplishment?
Unusual is a very relative term. Well, I’ve been a judge for several book awards; that is always fun but can be hard to keep a secret! I have a Certificate in Book Arts from the Minnesota Center for Book Arts. I have exhibited there, too. I have worked in publishing for a long time and have seen a lot of great authors speak and know quite a few. I’ve traveled to several countries and spent a summer in Spain during college.
I hate to say this because I don’t want to jinx myself, but I’m almost 30 years old and I’ve never gotten a speeding ticket!
I was a finalist in the state spelling bee in the state where I used to live!
What is your favorite food?
A favorite food? That’s like picking a favorite child! Probably seafood – anything with seafood. Sushi, crab legs, big chunky shrimp. Mmmmm
I can’t choose just one! I love breadsticks, Thai food, roasted cauliflower, and peanut butter & cheese sandwiches (don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!).
Pizza! Any type besides Hawaiian, and I am IN LOVE.
What is the last 5 star book you read?
I could say Six of Crows but that’s a gimme, so I will add my other top recs, The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley and The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins.
How to Be a Normal Person by T.J. Kline. It’s a love story between an asexual stoner hipster and a socially awkward video store owner, and it is one of the funniest books I’ve read in a long time.
A Gathering of Shadows. It was incredible, just like any book by V. E. Schwab is. I absolutely adored this book.
What has been one blogging highlight for you this year?
I should have a highlight, right? But I’ve only had my book blog for five months. So far, nothing real big has happened beyond starting it. Hey, being featured here! That’s a big highlight! 🙂
Getting more organized with my blogging. I started using Google Cal and created a blogging planner to keep track of ideas, and it’s really made a huge difference in my blogging in 2016.
Just today I found out that I was in the Acknowledgements of S. Usher Evans’ newest book, thanks to Nori’s Sunday Street Team! It made me so unbelievably happy.
