Annie Freemont grew up on the road, immersed in the romance of rare things, cultivating an eye for artifacts and a spirit for bargaining. It's a freewheeling life she loves and plans to continue--until her dad is diagnosed with dementia. His illness forces them to return to Moonhill, their ancestral home on the coast of Maine--and to the family they left behind fifteen years ago, after Annie's mother died in a suspicious accident.
Once at Moonhill, Annie is shocked when her aunt separates her from her father. The next time Annie sees him, he's a bizarre, violent shadow of his former self. Confused, she turns to an unlikely ally for support--Chase, the dangerously seductive young groundskeeper. With his dark good looks and powerful presence, Chase has an air of mystery that Annie is irresistibly drawn to. But she also senses that behind his penetrating eyes are secrets she can't even begin to imagine. Secrets that hold the key to the past, to Annie's own longings--and to all of their futures. Now, to unlock them, she'll have to face her greatest fears and embrace her legacy…

What is #Wo2016?
Wo2016 originally stood for ‘Waiting on 2016’ and was started as a supportive FB group for writers publishing a book in 2016 by Suzanne Van Rooyen and Louise Gornall. The group is comprised primarily of YA and NA authors, about 70% of whom are debuts. The idea behind the group was to provide a safe space for writers to chat about their anxieties, share little successes and offer/advice and encouragement to each other as we all journey down the publishing road! The group also runs a fortnightly twitter chat on a variety of subjects.
I’m lucky enough to be hosting Pat Esden and Melissa Giorgio on my blog today!

Hi my name is Pat Esden. I’m the author of A HOLD ON ME, (book 1, Dark Heart series). In the novel, the main character is Annie and her love interest is Chase. In celebration of Valentines, I’m going to gaze into my crystal ball and take a look at what he might do for her.

The truth is, Chase never thought about Valentines Day before he met Annie. Well, actually, he never knew about it. She’s an antique dealer and loves everything vintage, so he starts by looking at estate jewelry and finally buys a 1940’s locket bracelet for her. The first initial on the locket is right. The last one’s wrong. But Chase thinks she’ll love the bracelet and Annie’s grandfather reassures him that the initial can be changed. Then, to add a special touch to the gift, Chase hides the bracelet inside a pair of cherry-red fingerless mitts. And, yes, Chase made the mitts himself. He’s a master knife thrower, and knits and crochets to keep his fingers strong and limber.

So now that you know what Chase would do, what sort of Valentines gift would you love to get or give?

It's been two months since Gabi Harkins first learned of demons and the mysterious hunters who battle them. After discovering a few unbelievable surprises about herself, she simply wants to settle into a normal routine that involves dating her boyfriend Rafe Fitzgerald, hanging out with her friends, and eating lots of dessert. But when her peaceful life is destroyed by the ultimate of betrayals, Gabi must rely on her wits-and a few new crazy friends-to survive her hardest challenges yet. The sequel to The Sight Seer combines action, romance, and a healthy dose of humor as Gabi struggles to learn the truth about the secrets that surround her life.

Melissa: I wrote a valentine from the POV of the love interest, Leonid, from my YA fantasy THE FADING DUSK. It’s from early on in the book, so it doesn’t spoil any major plot reveals.

Dear Lark,

Yes, I’m calling you Lark because I saw how much it bothered you the first time I did it. Were you surprised that I recognized what type of bird the charm on your necklace was, or is there some deeper meaning behind it? I doubt you’ll tell me the real reason, not when you look like your seconds away from clawing my eyes out.

I suppose part of that is my fault, but you’re so damn infuriating that I can’t stop myself. If you would just listen to me, I wouldn’t be forced to take away your necklace or lock you up in a cell. Yes, you’re a prisoner, but it’s not as simple as that.

None of this is simple.

Why did it have to be you? You, the girl with the fiery hair who saved me from succumbing to the darkness when my world had been shattered. You don’t even know how you saved me and I swear I’ll never tell you. At least not now, when you’ve deemed me your enemy. I wish I could change your mind. I wish I could show you that I’m on your side, that I want to discover the truth as much as you do. But you won’t give me the chance. I know you won’t. You made up your mind about me and I know I should let this go, but I can’t.

Because it’s you.

You will never see this. You’ll never know what you did for me that day, and how you saved me. You’ll never realize how something changed in me, and how I wanted to learn more about you, girl with the red hair and the bird charm around your neck. I can’t tell you because I know you won’t listen. And that’s fine. Why should you listen to the one who ordered your arrest?

You’ll never care for me. You’ll never see past what I did to you. You’ll never learn that my hands were tied, orders were given, and everything I’ve done since the night we met was to save your life.

Yours (although you’ll never have me),
