This week’s topic is Top Ten Tuesday #61: Best Quotes from Books I read in 2015!!!
This was a really difficult topic, because I have a ton of quotes that I love, but I had to limit myself to ten! I decided to include quotes that were inspirational, funny, and simply pretty!
Quote #1 and #2: Kill the Boy Band by Goldy Moldavsky
“Happiness isn’t always easy,” he’d said. “But it’s a priority.”
AND
“Because the truth is, it isn’t worth loving something if you aren’t going to love it all the way.”
Quote #3: Riders by Veronica Rossi
“I don’t think that incident necessarily defines you as bad. I think it makes you human. And I believe you would have stopped yourself. I think that’s what makes a person good. Not that you make mistakes, but that you recognize them. You feel remorse for them. You want to correct them and do better.”
Quote #4 and #5: Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson
“This felt like the way you get nervous right before something exciting happens-the moment when you’re balanced on the top of the roller coaster, the hush before the surprise party, the second after the diving board but before the water, when you can close your eyes and imagine, for just a second, that you’re flying. The feeling that good things were coming, almost here, any moment now.”
AND
“Maybe she didn’t do something big. Maybe she just told someone something.”
Frank looked over at me, more serious now. “Like what?”
I shrugged. “Something they’d been needing to hear,” I said. I thought it over for a moment, then added, “I don’t think you have to do something so big to be brave. And it’s the little things that are harder anyway.”
Quote #5: The Revenge Playbook by Rachael Allen
“When you’ve earned something, I mean really earned it, no one can make you doubt that you deserve it. They can’t say it isn’t yours. There’s something about getting a thing that you’ve bled and fought for that makes the getting that much sweeter.”
Quote #6 and #7: Never Always Sometimes by Adi Alsaid
“No point in living a life less ordinary if you don’t know what the other side looks like.”
AND
“Human beings are more or less formulas. Pun intended. We are not any one thing that is mathematically provable. We are more or less than we are anything. We are more or less kind, or more or less not. More or less selfish, happy, wise, lonely.”
Quote #8: Open Road Summer by Emery Lord
“I dig the toe of my shoe into the dirt. “It’s complicated.”
“Is it? Most complicated things in life are actually pretty simple at the core. We put so much extra nonsense in the middle that we can’t even see how easy it really is.”
Quote #9 and #10: An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
“There are two kinds of guilt. The kind that’s a burden and the kind that gives you purpose. Let your guilt be your fuel. Let it remind you of who you want to be. Draw a line in your mind. Never cross it again. You have a soul. It’s damaged but it’s there. Don’t let them take it from you.”
AND
“Life is made of so many moments that mean nothing. Then one day, a single moment comes along to define every second that comes after. Such moments are tests of courage, of strength.”
Do any of these quotes stand out to you? Let me know in the comments below!
So awesome that you have a quote from Riders! I snagged a copy at ALA and absolutely loved it!
Loved your picks Nori! I definitely forgot about the ones from Never Always Sometimes.
I really enjoy Morgan Matson’s writing. Always something quotable in her books!
quote 4: When I was younger and life was more unsettled, I called that point of time between when I’d committed to something new and when it actually began “diving board time.” Funny to see it used that way in a book!
quote #9: I have plenty to feel guilty about in life, and I really like this suggestion to use your regrets for good. Don’t just beat yourself up, do better next time.
I love your picks from An Ember in the Ashes! Great choices. 🙂
Check out my TTT.
I have a quote from An Ember in the Ashes too, it’s so hard to choose a quote from that book. So many good lines.
