When I found out about the Blog Friends Forever Blog Hop, I KNEW that I had to participate. After all, talking about the book community and the friends that I’ve met? Yes please! The awesome girls at Swoony Boys Podcast and Fiction Fare are co-hosting this blog hop!
As most of you know, I recently put together a Basics of Book Blogging feature to help out some of the newbie bloggers (and veterans who wanted some reminders)! So, when I found out that I could feature some of my favorite newbie book bloggers, I said ABSOLUTELY!
Without further ado, I would like to introduce you to some of my favorite newbie bloggers! (Believe me, there are a TON more that I would have LOVED to include, but I didn’t want the post to take hours to read 😛 ) I asked NUMBER of them to answer five quick questions for me, and here were their answers!
1. When did you start blogging?
Alexandra: I started my blog, Literary Legionnaire in June, so it’s been 3 (almost 4) months now 🙂
Diana: I started blogging last month on Booking an Adventure on August 24th.
MC: I started blogging about three months ago on Blame It On The Books in June 2015. It feels like the time flew by, but at the same time, I feel like I’ve been doing this forever.
Megan: I started blogging in June of this year at Megan Manzano 129. The reason for doing so was one of my short stories was getting published the following month and I decided it would be a good idea to get back into blogging again.
Kristen: I began blogging about three months ago on Blissful Bkworm.
Jess: I started my blog, Princessica of Books on July 3rd, 2015; the day I wanted to stop reading blog posts and write my own.
Hannah: I started blogging in June on Oh The Book Feels, so nearly four months ago.
Mariam: I started blogging at Flying Through Fiction at the end of May! Right around BookCon time.
Skylar: I started blogging in August 2015 at A Bibliophiles Wonderland.
Alice: I just started blogging this past August!
Jamie: I started blogging at the beginning of May 2015 at Books and Ladders, so almost five months ago now!
2. What is your favorite post that you’ve written?
Alexandra: My favorite discussion post is probably my post “On Reading in Order” or my “Why I Don’t Reread” posts. But for reviews, my favorite post is probably my Throne of Glass review!
Diana: My favorite post would be my Ten Book Quotes post because I spent the most time on it making the graphics and picking ONLY ten quotes. Also because quotes are my most favorite part of books. I love reading a line that makes me squeal or whisper, “Wow.”
MC: I think one of my favorites is actually the first post I wrote – Most Anticipated Releases: Summer and Fall 2015. I really like this post, plus it was my very first post so it represents a very big step that I took three months ago.
Megan: My favorite post would be Jumping Through the Pages where I discuss my need for reading and how I missed it while on vacation.
Kristen: My favorite post is the story of how I became a writer. It felt good to share my story and see how far I’ve come.
Jess: I love all my discussions posts but my favorite is Let’s Talk About Sex [in YA], Baby, in which I discuss why sex is actually important and why I encourage it.
Hannah: My favorite blog post is actually one that I’m working on now! It’s about how diverse books are not just for diverse people, and how everyone can benefit from stories that feature characters that maybe have a different ethnic background or sexuality than they do. The post should be going up very soon!
Mariam: My favorite post would have to be our recap of Teen Author Carnival! I got to meet so many GREAT authors!
Skylar: My favorite post has been my review of Spinning Starlight by R.C. Lewis because I loved the book so much.
Alice: I think my favourite post would be my first one, for The Wrath and the Dawn.
Jamie: It would probably my recap of the #FAC16 SF/F chat. It was one of the better recaps I have done (in my opinion) and I feel like I really captured the essence of the chat.
3. What do you hope to improve upon as you continue blogging?
Alexandra: I hope to become a more consistent blogger and stay on schedule (because I know I can, but I’m a chronic procrastinator)! And I’d also love to become better at brainstorming for/writing discussion posts.
Diana: I hope to be able to write more meaningful reviews in the future. I admit that even now there are reviews that I’m not proud of because either I’m tired when I write them (College takes up TOO much time.) or I can’t find the right words to describe a book.
MC: I want to learn more about code so that I can really get creative with my blog and my posts. And I really want to develop a routine for my blogging so I’m on a regular schedule and can get more organized.
Kristen: I hope to begin putting out more content. I’m not where I want to be and that’s mainly due to school.
Jess: One of my goals is to learn how to not take too much on. Just recently I realized that I had way too much on my hands– 10 review books, several blog tours, and I also wanted to do my own stuff. On top of that I have school and some other stuff. It was really hectic and I had to take a break for a week and just train my self-control.
Hannah: As I continue blogging, I hope to improve on learning how to balancing novel writing, blog post writing, and managing my company better!
Mariam: Definitely time management and a steady flow of posts! Life is so hectic sometimes.
Skylar: I hope to get better at managing my time/scheduling posts as I continue to blog.
Alice: I would like to come up with some more creative posts besides just reviews!
Jamie: Two things actually: the first is writing shorter reviews since mine tend to be about 800-1000 words on average, and the second is to get better at scheduling my blog tours.
4. What’s your favorite food?
Diana: My favorite good is a Vietnamese dish called Bò Kho. It’s similar to beef stew.
MC: Does ice cream count as a food?
Megan: I would like to explore more genre based posts and touch upon issues within them. I started with love triangles in YA, but I would like to branch out to Sci-Fi/Fantasy issues too.
Kristen: I have so many. Mhm, I would have to say Chinese.
Jess: Wait! Fictional or IRL? Fictional– I always wanted to try Butterbeer and all the other magic candy from Harry Potter + Dauntless cake.. mmmm. IRL– I love my dad’s hamburgers and also this Filipino dish my mom makes called adobo. *mouth waters*
Hannah: My favorite food is (vegan) sushi!
Mariam: I eat mostly everything and anything! No discrimination!
Skylar: Cookie dough ice cream!!
Alice: Pizza pizza pizza!
Jamie: I come from a Lebanese family so my favourite food is kousa, which is essentially zucchini stuffed with rice and meat and cooked in a tomato sauce. DELICIOUS. For dessert foods, brownies!
