Basics of Book Blogging: Day Three- Graphics/Plugins/Design/Platform!

Posted September 8, 2015 by Nori in Basics of Book Blogging / 5 Comments

It’s time for DAY THREE of the Basics of Book Blogging feature!!! Who’s excited? I AM! 😀

As I mentioned in the introduction post, this feature is going to be filled with mostly Q&A style questions, in addition to some links that you might find helpful. 🙂

First of all, shoutout to Shelly at Read Sleep Repeat for being awesome! She saw my feature and wanted to help, so she created this INCREDIBLE tutorial on How to Make Simple Graphics! I highly recommend that you check out her tutorial by clicking HERE!
I was originally going to put the whole post on my blog, but I couldn’t get all of the graphics to fit (You can see that I’m graphically challenged as well) so I figured that a link would be better. But seriously, you all NEED to check out her tutorial! It’s amazing! And make sure to tweet her at @shellysrambles and tell her how amazing she is. 😀

Best photo editing program? How do I make photo collages?

Well, to be truthful, I’m not the right person to answer this question,  so I’m going to link you up to the best resource I know for bloggers- Ashley at Nose Graze! FYI- some of these links include paid programs and others are free. I’m also linking to one post by Michelle at Book Briefs and one post from Puranjay at CoSchedule!

Which is better, Blogger or WordPress?

Again, I’m not the best person to be asking. I’ve always used and loved it, but I know that other people are happy with Blogger and Blogspot. So, in order to help, I’m going to link up some guides for each of the website hosts. 🙂

Ashley from Nosegraze put together an awesome post on How to Choose a Blogging Platform That’s Right for You. It details the advantages and disadvantages of both WordPress and Bloglovin.

Ashley from Nosegraze discusses the other possibilities if you don’t want to use WordPress or Blogger.

Ashley from Nosegraze also did a guest post on Chasing Faerytales about the different types of blogging platforms!

Hafsah from Iceybooks did an INCREDIBLE feature on Building an Author Website– but don’t worry, it’s not just for authors! There are TONS of tips for bloggers (mostly catered towards WordPress users) but I highly recommend checking the full series out. It has tips on picking the right host, what plugins are the best, and how to design your blog!

Have any questions for me about this post (or about blogging in general)? Send me your questions  HERE and I’ll do my best to answer them soon! 🙂

Stay tuned for the next post in the Basics of Book Blogging guide tomorrow!
