It’s been a while, but I’d like to welcome you all back to the inside of my brain…and what I mean by that is, well, I’m finally posting a discussion post! I know that it’s been awhile (sorry about that) but I was waiting for inspiration to hit me. And, while DMing with one of my blogger friends, I suddenly had a thought that I wanted to address.
You see, there are two topics that I’ve been noticing in the blogger community recently.
1. “Old” versus “New” Bloggers
What I mean by this is that some of the veteran bloggers have felt that the community has been changing a bit, and it’s hard to adjust to all of the new people and changes that they bring. Also, some new bloggers want to reach out to veteran bloggers, but feel a bit uncomfortable and/or shy, so they don’t. I know that Cuddlebuggery has recently started a new project called Little Blogger, Big Ambitions, which I think is amazing, so you should definitely check that out.
2. Lacking Creativity
What I mean by this is that I’ve been noticing a lot of bloggers say that they don’t feel as though they are connecting with their readers and the community as much as they would like.
Now, if you’ve felt/noticed either of these two topics, please note- I AM NOT TRYING TO BE RUDE. Actually, it’s quite the opposite. I want to find a way to help fix these issues.
And…well…I have an idea. I don’t know if my idea is any good, but that’s why I want YOUR feedback. I was thinking about possibly starting some sort of feature (almost like the Summer Blogger Promo Tour by The Book Bratz) where bloggers can sign up and get sorted into groups BUT WITH A BIG DIFFERENCE.
The bloggers would be split up into groups filled with new and old bloggers, and…their task as a group would be to come up with a new type of feature that involves all of their blogs (and potentially other blogs). In addition, the veteran bloggers could act kind of like mentors to the newer bloggers. Plus, this is an AWESOME WAY TO MAKE NEW FRIENDS!!!
So, what do you think? Does this sound like something that you’d be interested in?
If so, please fill out the following form and I’d love to have you! I’m going to keep the signups open for a while, so feel free to spread the word to all of your friends!
SIGNUPS ARE OFFICIALLY CLOSED! YOU ARE WELCOME TO SUBMIT THE FORM BUT YOU WILL BE PUT ON A WAITLIST. YOU ARE NOT GUARANTEED TO BE ABLE TO JOIN THE PROJECT IF YOU SUBMIT NOW.
This sounds like a great idea! I like the idea that you are incorporating both old and new bloggers. As a semi- new blogger myself, I completely understand what you are saying about feeling intimidated about reaching out. There is a slight hesitation about speaking to someone that has loads of dedicated people they speak to all the time and an already well established blog. Not everyone feels that way, and so far I have yet to meet any unfriendly bloggers, but that fear is still there. I have slowly started coming out of the dark to speak to more and have enjoyed it greatly! I think your idea would be a great way to form a bridge so that we can all get over that point and work together and most importantly meet new friends!
Thank you so much Lauren. You really hit the nail on the head. 🙂
I want to fill the form but I have a questions. Many of the bloggers I look up to don’t have twitter. What to do? Write their blog names?
Awesome idea! Thanks so much for hosting! 🙂
Ha ha, I was told my problem is I blog about “books no one wants to know about”, but that’s not going to change, so this won’t help me out, but it is a wonderful idea!
NORRRIII YOU ARE A GENIUS. This is such a solid idea and I am super glad you came up with this idea. Already signed up and can’t wait to see what you’re going to do with this. 🙂
