Make Me Read It Read-a-Thon Intro Post

Posted July 2, 2015 by Nori in Challenges / 16 Comments

Hello there everyone! Well, due to the BEGGING and PLEADING of Holly @ Skizzles22hu and Amber @YA Indulgences, I have decided to enter the Make Me Read It Read-a-Thon, hosted by Val @ The Innocent Smiley  and Ely @ A Book So Fathomless.

I’m going to do this post Q&A style, because why not?

What is the Make Me Read-A-Thon?

Good question! Here’s the answer:

Look at the books you own, either physical, e-book or ones you’ve borrowed from the library and pick out a few you really want to read, or feel like you should read. It’s up to you how many you pick, personally I’d pick a few more than you expect to be able to read in a week. Example: if you think you’ll only read two, pick out five books or if you think you can read seven, pick out ten.

Make a list of these books on your blog, or make a video, or a Goodreads shelf or post a picture on Instagram—whatever is easiest for you. Then get friends, other bloggers/booktubers etc. to vote on which books you HAVE to read.

When the read-a-thon comes along, you read the books in the order of most votes. For example, if one book gets 10 votes—you read that first, then the one that got 7 and so on. If there’s a tie, then it’s your preference. The goal is to read as many as possible.

When will this be happening?

The Make Me Read It Read-a-Thon will start at 8am on July 20th and end at 12am on July 27th.

Nori, this sounds like fun! Why didn’t you want to do this in the first place?

Ha. Ha. Ha. Well…you see…I’m a bit ashamed by the books that I haven’t read…and I have a feeling that most of you are going to yell at me for at least one book on this poll so…*hides nervously*

Okay, I’m ready to vote! Where’s the poll?

Well…I actually decided to make 2 polls- one for ARCs and one for books! ENJOY!
You may pick up to 8 books on both polls. That does NOT mean that I will be reading all of them, but with 22 choices to choose from, I wanted to make sure that you all were able to vote on your favorites. 🙂

I want to sign up! Where can I get more information?

  1. Yay! I’m so glad you’re joining in with this. Don’t worry, I won’t get after you. The only ones I read on your list was Anna, TATBILB and Pivot Point.

I do own The Distance Between Us, Second Chance Summer, My Life Next Door, Second Chance Summer, Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour, Along The Ride, This Song Will Save Your Life, Scarlet, and The Winner’s Curse. :)… So I’m just as bad as you! 😉

I’m jealous that you have This Ordinary Life, you need to read that and let me know how it is! I own a few of those arcs too.

  2. I totally did NOT vote for Anna! I voted for 5 books I have read AND loved: The Cage, The Sin Eater’s Daughter, To All the Boys, and The Winner’s Curse. Narrowing down the ARCs… that was MUCH more challenging, and I used ALL of my 8!

  3. This reminds me that I myself have to make a poll before the read-a-thon!
And man, you have so many awesome books up there! I am one of the few people who didn’t vote for Anna, I guess:), but I voted for Graceling, Scarlet, The Distance Between Us and Pivot Point! I am curious to see the end results:)

We’ve all got pretty big tbr piles that we’re ashamed to admit. So don’t worry. 😛 I haven’t read most of these books myself *hides* but I still voted on ones that I heard were pretty good. 🙂
