My Confession…Busy Bee

Posted June 19, 2015 by Nori in Discussion Posts / 13 Comments

Hi everyone, my name is Nori, and I’m addicted to new ideas.

If you haven’t noticed, I like to make sure that I’m constantly busy and bringing new ideas to my blog and Twitter. Actually, just a little bit ago, I was just having a conversation about this topic with Holly, Amber, Kaitlin, and Rachel.  You see, I happened to randomly stumble upon one of Amber’s tweets. It went a little like this:

(In case you’re interested in reading the whole conversation, you can click the picture to be taken to the tweet :P)

And putting the world domination idea aside, it got me thinking. Am I coming up with too many ideas? Am I overloading everyone? As I mentioned previously, I love creating new features and discussions etc…but at the same time, I’m starting to wonder if I’m doing too much new stuff. So, I want to ask YOU all for your honest opinion. What do you think about my blog and Twitter? Do you think that I create too many new features?

Also, of course while I’ve been writing this post, I have a couple of ideas currently floating in my brain. And since I like all of my ideas, I decided that it might just make more sense to ask you all what you’d be the most interested in.

So, here are the very vague ideas I’m putting together right now:

1. ARC Organization/Accountability Challenge
I have SO many ideas for this one!!!

2. A Guide for Newbie Bloggers
This would be a series of posts mostly in Q&A style

3. More Discussion Posts
Basically, this idea would mean that I would try to write discussion posts more frequently

Also, the three above ideas are only IDEAS. I haven’t really started to write up anything for them.

But, just to show you what a crazy busy little bee I am, let me tell you what else I am ACTUALLY doing for my blog:

1. Sunday Street Team
By now, I would hope that most of my followers know what this is, but if not, you can click HERE for more information.

2. Bookitcon
Again, by now I REALLY hope that you would know about the book event that I’m putting together, but if not, click HERE. Guys, I’m only going to say this one more time- I really need your help with this. Putting together a book event from scratch is extremely difficult, and I need your help to do it! If you can come, please buy a ticket. If you can’t come, please help spread the word, and/or make a donation. Every dollar counts!

3. Summer Blogger Promo Tour
Amber and Jessica over at The Book Bratz have come up with this awesome feature and so I decided to join it! Stay tuned- because I will be posting a lot about it as it comes closer. But for now, if you want to see more information, click HERE.

4. SSS
You may be asking- wait, Nori, I don’t know what this SSS is! Well, that’s because it’s a surprise…for now. Don’t worry, I will be revealing more details about this feature soon, but for now, let’s just say that it deals with 2016 releases…and it’s going to be AMAZING!

And, to top it off, here are a couple of other bookish things that I am doing over the summer.

1. Internships
So, guess what? I’m actually an intern for two companies. Yes, you read that right. I have two summer virtual internships. They are both incredible, and I’m very excited to be working for both companies, but it does take a lot of time.

2. Reading
My goal for this summer is to read as much as possible so that I will be able to schedule a ton of posts after summer! I’m hoping to read as much as possible. Also, seeing as I got a ton of books at BEA, you can understand why I NEED to read a ton this summer.

3. Beta Reading
For those of you who don’t know, I am a beta reader, and I do have a couple of clients who are waiting patiently for me to finish beta-reading! Believe me, I’m working hard to get them done as soon as possible, but I NEED to make sure that my critique is quality work.

4. Commenting
I really want to start commenting on other blogger’s posts, but I just haven’t had time. Since it’s the summer, I want to try to comment more.

5. BEA Posts
Yes, I still am working on finishing up all of my BEA recap posts! If you haven’t seen Post 1, Post 2, or Post 3, you can check them out now! Posts 4-6 will hopefully be coming your way soon.

6. Updating the Blog
I’ve been meaning to update my blog for a little bit now. Don’t worry, there won’t be any MAJOR changes, but there are a couple of updates that will hopefully make the blog look a bit cleaner and nicer. 🙂

So, now that you see what I’m doing, please understand that I’m a bit stressed out right now, and that’s why I’m really banking on YOU, my bookish friends, to help me prioritize and pick what YOU want to read on my blog. I know that blogging is supposed to be about what I want to share with the world, and it is. But I have so many ideas that I want to share with the world, and so little time to do it.

Now, as an overall recap, let me ask you the same question that I posed at the beginning.

Which of my very vague ideas would you like me to focus on?

1. ARC Organization/Accountability Challenge
2. A Guide for Newbie Bloggers
3. More Discussion posts

Let me know in the comments below! Thank you for reading this extremely detailed post- I really appreciate it. 🙂

  1. I really like ideas 1& 2! I’m sure I will like idea 3 once I know what it is. Hehe. I m is I keep forgetting about my post for Bookitcon but that is bc I am a bubblehead. I will do it this weekend. I am setting a reminder! there is never to much or to many good ideas just don’t burn yourself out. Do what your comfortable with!

    • Hahaha thank you Britt! Don’t worry about it- honestly, just put up the post whenever you have time. *Hugs* Thank you for this comment. It’s exactly what I needed to hear. <3

  2. Nori, all that you’ve been doing is fantastic! To me you are such a blogger super star. Do not ever feel like you’re doing too much as far as feeling like we think it’s weird. Only do what you feel you can accomplish so you don’t burn out.

I’d like to see more about Newbie Blogger Guides. Because even though I’m on Twitter, A LOT (oops), I’m actually still new to blogging!

I appreciate that you’re always there to answer my random questions and I LOVE that you’ve set up SST & it’s getting better and Bookitcon! So exciting! Keep at it but only do what you WANT! Don’t feel pressure to do less or even pressure to do more. It is your time use it how YOU want. 🙂

    • Thank you so much Sarah! I really don’t view myself as a blogger super star- I view myself as the opposite, actually haha. I sometimes feel like since I have so many ideas, I am just stretching myself thin, and nothing is getting accomplished. 🙁 I will definitely add your vote for the Newbie Blogger Guides into account! 🙂 And I’m pretty new to blogging as well, but I am always glad to answer any questions that you have. *hugs*

  3. I think 1 and 2 are good ideas. The Q&A seems more like one that would be a one time thing with updating here and there (unless you have something else planned ;)). I’m definitely interesting in seeing what The ARC Organization bit is.

I recently asked myself if I had too many features (between memes, special reviews, discussion posts etc) and I felt like I did. I didn’t want to do away with them so I changed a lot of them to monthly instead of weekly or even seasonal. But if I’m really inspired to write something, I do and just keep it in my drafts until I have a chance to post it.

    Good luck with everything!

  4. I think they are all great ideas, but don’t put too much pressure on yourself, girl! I think bloggers sometimes have really high expectations for themselves. I feel myself get antsy from time to time when I can’t get posts up, sometimes none at all. But honestly, I work a full time job almost six days a week now and I’m beat by the time I get home, so trying to constantly generate content to read just isn’t realistic for me and I don’t expect other bloggers to do the same. So I say kudos to the bloggers who can somehow manage to post 5,235 things a day and kudos to the bloggers who want to take breaks. Either way, I love reading your posts and will read them no matter what they are. 🙂

    • Thank you so much Sierra! *Tackle hugs* Your words mean the world to me, so thank you for that. I’m trying to decrease the pressure on myself haha, but it’s hard now that I’ve dipped my toes into so many projects. Oh well, I’m sure that I’ll find a good balance eventually!

  5. So that’s why you needed that conversation! 😀 It all makes sense now. You’re so amazing for everything you do in the book community, never stop<3 You're certainly not overloading me with them. I love your blog and I love your features.

Ooh, Beta Reading sounds so cool. I need to get back to commenting too. I just haven't done much of it at all in the past 2-3 months. 🙁 Very sad.

I think an ARC Organization/Accountability Challenge would be really useful to people! I also love discussion posts too.
