Book Update!!!

TGIF everyone!

For those of you who don’t know, I am currently co-writing a book with one of my friends. Since we are both busy, we haven’t had as much time as we would like to write, but we are trying as often as possible.

I am very excited to share the news that we have finally hit 30,000 words! Now I understand that 30,000 words is not a huge accomplishment compared to other books, but everyone starts somewhere. My friend and I have worked on other novels in the past but this is by far the most we have written.

As we have been writing this book, I’ve had some doubts as to whether we were entering a world way above our head. After all, writing a book is difficult! All of you fellow writers and authors know that. But right now, as we hit 30,000 words, it makes all of our hard work worthwhile. We are definitely not finished as we have many ideas and scenes still to write, which is exciting!

I can’t tell you how the story will end or when we will be finished writing. After all, I am not a fortune teller! But the one thing that I can tell you is to never give up. No matter what your goal is, if you let your self-doubt get in the way, you will never get where you want to go. So no matter who you are or what your goal is, just go for it!

On that note, it is time to write!

Personally, I know how hard it is to write a book! I am co-writing too, so I can totally relate. If anyone is having trouble finding motivation I would HIGHLY suggest a writing buddy! It is hard to figure out how to divide the work, but it is extremely worth it. For those who are co-writing, I would suggest not letting each other know how you plan to finish the book outside of a general plot. It can cause complications, but gives you a little “push”. You always want to get your part done so you can read your co-writers section! In a way, it is reading a book you’ve never read before, because you have NO IDEA what is going to happen. Happy writing!

    • I completely agree. I have learned so much from co-writing that I would have never experienced by writing a book myself. I also really enjoy the fact that I don’t know what is coming next. I always enjoy being surprised by what my co-writer wrote!
